In the rapidly changing world of the 1890s, Alexander Graham Bell and Edward Miner Gallaudet-- two powerful and egotistical men-- fight for
dominance in the field of deaf communication. Meanwhile, in the upper class drawing rooms of Washington, D.C., a young girl named Helen Keller learns what it means to be a woman in an era of progress.
